Ghana’s team at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil continue to disappoint as, another athlete, Alex Amankwah failed to progress in the men’s 800m athletics at games.

He place sixth in his heat of eight runners, recording a time of 1:50.33.

Brandon McBride of Canada, Marcin Lewandowski of Poland and Mark English from Ireland placed first second and third respectively to qualify from their group.

Alex Amankwah is the fifth Ghanaian athlete to go out of the Rio Olympic Games after swimmers Kaya Forson and Abeiku Jackson, judoka Szandra Szogedi and boxer Abdul Omar all failed to progress in their respective competitions.

Ghana presented 16 athletes for the Rio Olympic Games in Brazil.
