According to the deputy General Secretary of the largest opposition party, New Patriotic Party (NPP), there is no difference between incumbent President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama and the United States presidential hopeful, Donald Trump.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, recent utterances from President Mahama can be likened to that of the US Republican Candidate who he says is noted for engaging in insults, irresponsible and unreasonable comments.
“Mahama is the Donald Trump of modern Ghana because he insults, makes irresponsible and unreasonable comments”, he said.
Obiri Boahen was speaking on the Accra-based radio station, Ultimate FM, the NPP Deputy Scribe asked why the president will point accusing fingers at the NPP for a behaviour of insults when members of his party are the worst offenders.
John Mahama called out the NPP for winning a "gold medal in insults" under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo during his address at the party’s campaign launch in Cape Coast.
“Developments in the largest opposition party threatens the country; the character of its leadership where people who are moderate [and] level-headed have been cowed into silence because of fear of being victimised in the party should not be tolerated,” he said.
Nana Obiri Boahen, however, says that the president himself is guilty of politics of insults.
