Medals were not the only big wins at the Olympics this year, as Chinese diver He Zi also won at love when her boyfriend popped the question after the medal ceremony yesterday.
It was right after the medal ceremony where China's diver He Zi won the silver medal in the women's silver springboard when her teammate and boyfriend Qin Kai walked up to the podium to ask the 'big' question. Cameramen and news photographers crammed to see the highlights of the proposal as Qin Kai went on one knee much to the shock of He Zi and brought forth a little red velvet holding the ring as he asked for her hand.
In a press conference later He Zi said: “ We’ve been dating for six years , but I didn’t expect him to propose today." She told reporters, “He said a lot of things, made a lot of promises, but I think the thing that touched me the most is I think this is the guy I can trust for the rest of my life.” This is the second engagement to happen at Rio 2016 after Isadora Cerullo, the Brazilian rugby 7s player proposed to her longtime girlfriend Marjorie Enya.
