The 26-year-old debuted for his new side, West Ham in a Premier League opener against Chelsea. Hopes were high that the Ghanaian player would repeat his exceptional opener for Swansea FC last season, but these aspirations were cut short after Ayew limped off before half time.
Media reports suggest that Andre sustained an injury in his right thigh from a sprained muscle but will undergo tests on Tuesday, 16th August 2016 to ascertain the extent of his injury.
The Ghanaian international has however assured that the injury sustained is nothing serious.
Manager Slaven Bilic has also disclosed the former Swansea star has told him the injury is not a "big one".
"Ayew has a thigh injury,” he confirmed. "He told me it is not a big one, but you never know and he will have a scan on Tuesday and we have to wait for the result of the scan to know how long he will be out."
