A spokesperson for the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mustapha Hamid says the proper handling of the suspension of its chairman, Paul Afoko proves the party’s competence and governance abilities.
Mr Hamid believes that the NPP is a party that is governed by rules and procedures hence is a more competent party to govern the nation rather than the ruling NDC government.
Speaking to Citi News in Accra, the spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP is a party that will always deal with any recalcitrant person irrespective of their position.
“If the NPP has shown itself to be a party that will let the rod fall on whoever falls foul of its laws and procedure, then I think that is a party that we can entrust the destiny of Ghana …; an NPP government will be a one that will let the law apply,” he explained.
In a sharp rebuttal to comments made against the NPP describing them as divisive and intolerant by President John Mahama at the recent NDC campaign launch in Cape Coast, but Mr Hamid believes the handling of Afoko’s case should be the basis why the Ghanaian electorate should vote for his party.
“The major distinction between human societies and animal society is the existence of law. That is what distinguishes us as human beings from lower animals,” Mustapha Hamid added.
A Human Right’s Court on Monday dismissed a suit by former chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko who was challenging the legality of his suspension by the party’s Disciplinary Committee.
