Residents of Takla, Hodzo and Kpanoe Traditional areas in the Volta Region have vowed to boycott the December 7 Presidential and Parliamentary elections if the deplorable road networks in their communities are not fixed.
The angry residents, numbering over 200, took to the streets in the communities on Wednesday to register their displeasure about the condition in which find themselves in.
Clad in red and chanting war songs, the protesters carried placards outlining how the government has neglected them and their decision to boycott the upcoming general elections.
Some of the placards bore the inscription “WE ARE DYING”, “NO ROAD NO VOTE”, “WE LOVE U MAHAMA – ROAD B4 ELECTIONS” and “WE WANT ROOOAD” among others.
The residents argued that for far too long, they’ve been denied their fair share of the national cake, a situation they noted is impacting negatively on their lives.
