Nigeria's U-23 team receive $390,000 gift from Japanese

A Japanese multi-millionaire who promised coach Samson Siasia and his boys a huge amount of money if they win Gold, Silver or Bronze in the football event at Rio has fulfilled his promise.

Katsuya Takasu who is a successful plastic surgeon in Japan, promised each player of the Nigerian U-23 team $30, 000 if they win the gold in the men’s soccer event.

Moved by the heart wrenching experiences of the team on their way to Brazil, Takasu pledged to reward the team for their bravery. He also promised to pay the team $20, 000 dollars for silver and $12,000 for bronze.

He presented a $190,000 cheque to Mikel Obi for the footballers and $200,000 cheque to Samson Siasia, a total of $390,000.
