Mothers praise Obinim for beating their "fornicating" teenagers

Days after flogging two teenagers of his church for allegedly engaging in fornication, mothers of the teenagers have supported the action of Bishop Obinim arguing that "God had only used the preacher to punish them."

Mother of the  sixteen-year-old boy (name withheld) revealed to CitiFM that the lashes meted out her son would serve as a deterrent to young fornicators.

“God used Obinim to flog the children so that other young people will learn from it and the young ladies will take care of themselves. To me it was very necessary because it is a lesson that everybody should learn from,” she said.

Also, mother of the pregnant teenage girl (name withheld) said that the entire punishment was based on a revelation from God to Bishop Obinim. Narrating her ordeal as a widow, the mother argues that all means to put in check her 14-year-old daughter has proved futile.

“The revelation came when he was having a live program. When I heard her name, I stood up and when I realized God had used Obinim to discipline her, I was very happy. She was very young when her father died and I don’t want to recount how difficult it was for me to take care of her, she said. I revere the man of God else I would have gone for the belt to whip her myself. I thank God he exposed their wrongdoing," she stated.

Meanwhile, Bishop Obinim is expected to report to the Tema police station today for questioning following charges pressed against him for beating the teenagers. He risks getting arrested if he does not appear before the police anytime soon.
