"Obinim's arrest caused death of two people, more to die if he is not released"

Bishop Daniel Obinim's arrest may have led to the death of at least two people if allegations by his followers are anything to go by.

According to followers of the founder of the International God’s Way Church, sick persons who had been brought to see the controversial prophet for healing are dying.

According to a report by Accra-based, KasapaFMOnline.com, the church members who had gathered at the Nima Police Station in support of the prophet alleged that "two sick people have already died in church on Tuesday while several others are on the verge of death."

"The arrest of Obinim is born out of jealousy… this pure hatred against him just because he’s being used mightily by God to perform wonders in Ghana. Just yesterday two sick people brought to church to be healed died because Bishop Obinim has been arrested. Several sick people will die if he’s not released immediately," the members said.

Bishop Obinim is widely celebrated among his followers for his "healing powers." He has to his credit a lot of miracles, mostly controversial.

The bishop was arrested on Tuesday, 23rd August on charges of defrauding a gold dealer of GHC11.6 million under false pretence.

Tens of Obinim's followers gather at Nima police station

He was held at the Nima Police Station cells overnight and later transported to the Police Headquarters in Accra for further questioning.

Obinim's lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea has, however, indicated that his client had no knowledge of the said fraud.
