A group calling itself the Association of 10 Virgin Prophets have promised to pray against the re-election of President John Mahama in the general election.
The group of prophet who claim to be virgins say their prayer will result in what they call a “gargantuan” defeat for the president who according to their predictions will be victorious.
Their threat comes after President Mahama granted pardon to the Montie three who were jailed by the Supreme Court over contemptuous comments.
Speaking to Accra-based radio station, Adom FM, the leader of the group, Osomafo Job Antwi expressed shock over the President’s actions adding that the release of the three could lead to chaos in the country.
“President Mahama has really shocked us; releasing these people who threatened to kill judges is a recipe for disaster” he said angrily
According to Osomafo Antwi, he will be heading to the Atwea Mountains in the Eastern region together with nine other virgin prophets to engage in dry fasting and prayers towards defeat of President Mahama.
“We will pray for pray for a one touch victory for Nana Akufo-Addo; President Mahama must not be retained. He will get only 48 percent and Nana Akufo-Addo will get 51 percent of the total votes cast” he declared.
Host of popular mid-afternoon show, Pampanso on Montie FM, Salifu Maase a.k.a Mugabe and two others, Alistair Nelson and Godwin Ako Gunn threatened to kill Supreme Court Judges and rape the Chief Justice if they ruled against the Electoral Commissions in the case over eligibility of NHIS card registrants.
Aside, the four-month sentences the trio were also slapped with a GHC 10,000 fine for the offense.
But the sentence did not go down with members of the ruling National Democratic Congress who petitioned the President to overturn the sentence which they described as “harsh and illegal”.
The President on Monday in a press statement granted amnesty to the three in consultation with the Council of State .
