Disappointed clients who were defrauded by fake microfinance company, DKM Microfinance have resulted to suicide in the Upper East region.
This was revealed at a meeting on Wednesday by a group calling itself “Aggrieved Customers of DKM in Upper East”.
The members numbering about 6,000 expressed their anger at government’s delay to refund their monies which were in the coffers of the microfinance company describing the closure as a “national disaster”.

According to Rita Azure, a mother of two who spoke at the conference in Bolgatanga said the shutting down of the company had caused so many hardships for themselves and their family.
“We invested these monies so that we can take care of our families. And here is the case we don’t have the money to even feed let alone to pay their school fees. Some of our children have dropped out of school. We are suffering. Many people are dead, and many are on their sick bed because of this. Mr president, pay our money to us because the Bank of Ghana is under you!” she ranted.
The angry investors clad in red to show seriousness and anger say Gh¢11, 829, 371 was lost to DKM in the region and blamed the President and the former Governor of the Bank Of Ghana, Dr.Henry Kofi Wampah for failing to make the right checks before giving them the license to operate.
