Despite the controversy concerning whether Ghana will assemble foreign or local based Black Stars players for the AFCON qualifier this weekend training session began Tuesday afternoon.

Black Stars hold first training ahead of Rwanda game

In all 13 players reported for the first session of training at the Accra Sports Stadium. Ten foreign based players are reported to showed up and three local based players joined.

Amongst the players present was FC Twente winger Yaw Yeboah who is honouring his debut Black Stars call up.

13 Black Stars players report for training

The players present during the training session are:

John Boye, Edwin Gyimah, Mubarak Wakaso, Richard Ofori, Daniel Amartey, Kadri Mohammed and Baba Rahman.

The rest are Frank Acheampong, Alfred Duncan, Afriyie Acquah, Yaw Yeboah, Dauda Mohammed and David Accam.

Black Stars players first training session

The Black Stars are leading their group with 13 points . They will take on second placed Rwanda at the Accra Stadium on Saturday September 3.

According to Sports Minister Nii Lante Vanderpuije  government does not have the needed funding to procure flight tickets for the foreign-based senior national team players. The directive has become a huge talking point in the media, with most people supporting the minister and government's position.
