Social media users have been mocking a thief at Asamankese in the Eastern Region, who fell asleep in the house of a pastor he had gone to rob.
Police say the 27-year-old suspect, on Saturday, broke into the house of Pastor Asare Nyarko of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church through the roof and made away with some items.
He returned for a second operation and decided to smoke "wee" to gain energy to enable him to climb through the ceiling but felt dizzy and fell asleep on the pastor’s bed.
According to the police, when the pastor’s family returned home, they found the suspected thief deeply asleep in the bedroom.
Social media users have been reacting, with some joking that the thief had been "arrested" by the Holy Spirit.
Others described him as a "fool", who was joking with his business.
According to the pastor whose house was robbed, the thief was so deeply asleep that even shouting did not wake him.
“We had to shake him before he woke up so [we arrested him] and sent him to the police station," he said.
