The queen mother of Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, Nana Abena Ewusiwaa II has noted that the “promiscuous dance” exhibited by the youth during the “Ahobaakese” festival is part of the tradition.

According to the queen mother, the dance creates an atmosphere for men who are unable to propose to women, to do so.

Some of the men are unable to propose to the girls, so this part of the festival gives them the opportunity to propose to the women they wish to marry,” she said in an interview with Adom FM.
