Belinda Akua Amoah, popularly known as MzBel has called out Lucky Mensah as selfish, demanding and liar. She made these remarks after the musician claimed that the NDC kills the careers of musicians associated with the party.
According to MzBel, Lucky Mensah's claims are unfounded because she believes no musician should align him/herself with a political party but should rather support leaders whose ideas and policies they believe benefit the people of the country.
MzBel further added that musicians who demanded rewards from political parties they supported were not creative and lazy because they left their careers in hopes of being supported by the political parties. She explained that political parties were not responsible for marketing the musicians who endorse them. MzBel said, "
MzBel said, "We are role models, we should set an example. If you believe in what somebody is doing and you want to support, support freely. If you are rewarded later for your support, fine but if you are not rewarded, you take it in good faith, because whatever you did was for a good course. But if you demand from politicians and they fail you, then you go on radio, and television to insults and backlash; that is unfortunate.''
She further added that she was disappointed in Lucky Mensah for saying the NDC killed careers, stating it is greed that drives him because he had apparently asked to perform at the NDC campaign launch and was refused. As such that is why he has turned against the party.
Lucky Mensah responded to her remarks in a conversation with Kwame Tutu of Rainbow Radio station, saying he signed a contract with the NDC and they promised him a Mitsubishi car if he made a song for them. He added that MzBel should check her facts properly before spewing lies about him.
