Tragedy has befallen the New Patriotic Party as two of supporters of the political faction died whiles helping with the party's campaign.
Two staunch supporters of the party died instantly after they were electrocuted and two others were admitted to the Sunyani Government Hospital for treatments.
The injured and the deceased were part of an campaign team erecting a billboard for the party’s flagbearer and parliamentary candidate in the Sunyani East constituency of the Brong Ahafo region.
The Communications Officer of the party in the constituency, Maxwell Mahama, confirmed the news to some media houses.
He assured that the families of the deceased had been contacted and duly informed of the mishap.
He narrated in detail how the sad incident occurred.
According to Mr. Mahama, the party Eye Gallery Enterprise to help erect the campaign billboards in the area. Around 9:00AM on Wednesday, 7th September, the company came for the campaign materials and the party tasked "two of our people including our driver" to aid the team.
He continued that, the team had dug holes for one of the billboards and while turning the other side to paste another poster, the billboard mistakenly hit some nearby high tension cables leading to the electrocution of the two.
