It would seem that the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II's continued usage of the "Otumfuo" title is not going down well with some Christian sects.
The founder and head pastor of the Open Arms Ministries/Jesus Chapel in Kumasi, Apostle Kofi Nkansah-Sarkodie, has beseeched the Asanteman Council to remove the "Otumfuo" title from any sitting Asantehene.
According to Apostle Nkansah-Sarkodie, "Otumfuo" which translates as "Almighty God" should not be used by any human being but rather reserved for the one true God Christian acknowledge.
Apostle Nkansah-Sarkodie, alias Brother St. Sark claims to be a representative of Jesus in Ghana. He also suggested that instead of "Otumfuo", "Ohenpon" be used for occupants of the Golden Stool.
The Man of God also continued that the title "Odeneho" should also not be adopted by any chief.
The Apostle maintains that "Odeneho", which translates to "independent" should not be used any individual person who is not free and independent of the providence of God Almighty.
