A musical concert that was planned by dancehall artiste Samini and his team at the Tamale Sports Stadium was unfortunately cancelled due to gunshots between clashing groups in Tamale over the weekend.
Sources claim the shootings were the result of a confrontation between the family of a woman accused of witchcraft and youth of the group called the Dagbandaba Fon. The members of the group claimed they were adhering to the customs of the Dagombas where when a person is accused of sorcery, she must be taken to a witch doctor to exorcised, or for the truth to be forced out of her.
The children of the accused however refused to allow this and fired gunshots which started the clashes between both sides.
The organisers of the Samini show, Smile Multimedia had to cancel the show due to the fear of the clashes causing damage in one way or the other. The incident which occurred around 10pm has recorded no casualties, and the Tamale police have stated they are yet to be informed about the attack.
