‘Step Up’, a monthly event that brings together entrepreneurs and corporate executives for focused discussions on various aspects of business and networking, held its September event last week, focusing on the ‘Secrets of Successful Salespeople’
Sam Addo, the General Manager at MTN Business, presented the keynote address for the event. He presentation focused on why some people sell more and others struggle with their minimum targets; how do successful sales people deal with barriers in the sales process; proven techniques of closing sales, qualities of a potentially successful salesman; and tried and tested sales steps among others.
He said that selling is first and foremost a transaction between the seller and the prospective buyer or buyers (the target market) where money (or something considered to have monetary value) is exchanged for goods or services/solution.
According to Mr Addo, a good sales person must be ambitious, achievement oriented, self-motivated, a good communicator and a great listener. He told participants to expect barriers in the sales process and work around it.
He said: “Do some research beforehand to educate yourself about your target customer(s). If you have identified a viable solution to a problem your product offers, customize your sales pitch to specifically address that issue, leaving out extraneous details.”
Gillian Hammah, Chief Marketing Officer, Databank Group; Matthew Ansah, Sales & Marketing Manager, Petronia City Development Ltd & Wonda World Estates; and Andrew Annor Apo, Team Leader at Max International, joined in the discussion. William Rich, Chief Executive Officer of Rich Investment Realty moderated the discussion.
Premier Trend, which is the behind the concept and the organization, is supported by MTN Business, Yoks Rent-A-Car and YEN and various other partners.
