Last Wednesday’s regional derby between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Obuasi Ashanti Gold has raised eyebrows.
The Brong Ahafo Regional Kotoko Circles chairman, Kofi Wayo, wants the Ghana Football Association to probe the midweek fixture which resulted in an eight-goal thriller.
Kofi Wayo believes the match was fixed in a bid to save Ashanti Gold from being relegated from the Ghana Premier League.
According to the chairman, he watched the match at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium and has no doubt both clubs played a match of convenience.
Wayo said his fears were confirmed by a statement made by Ali Maradona, Asante Kotoko Deputy Operations Manager.
Before the match, Ali Maradona had suggested in an interview that Kotoko would help Ashanti Gold maintain its premiership status.
Kofi Wayo has therefore pleaded with the spiritual head and life patron of Kotoko, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, to put an end to the unprofessional conduct exhibited by the club’s management.
