Gospel artiste Cwesi Oteng who recently endorsed the NPP and its flagbearer has explained his decision to finally choose a side, stating he made his decision as a 'citizen' and as a millennial' after he examined the Better Ghana Agenda brought forth by the NDC.
The gospel singer announced his support for the NPP on Saturday, September 10, via his twitter account, saying that he believed Ghana needed a breath of fresh air.
Speaking on the Gospel 360 show on Accra 100.5 FM, the musician said he chose to side with the NPP because Nana Addo was the best person to challenge John Mahama for the presidency, as he did not want to waste his vote thus Nana Addo was his choice. He added that he is a citizen of Ghana as such his only choice would be Nana Addo.
“Nana has not been president of Ghana yet, but write the history of Ghana. If you can remove him from [it], it’s not correct history, because Ghana used to be a military-ruled country before we came [under] constitutional rule. I do not remember any of the current faces fighting for Ghana to come out of military rule. My point is that if a person who without political authority as president of the state has been able to etch himself into the history books of our country, what will this person do if he is the president of the state?" he further noted.
Cwesi Oteng is among the new crop of celebrities to choose the side of the NPP, including A Plus, Bibi Bright, and Lucky Mensah.
