President John Dramani Mahama has boasted on a platform at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) that Ghana is a "world class democracy".
Presenting his final speech at the general assembly on Wednesday, September 21, the president maintained that Ghana continues to respect human rights and that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections will be very credible and incident free.
The comments by Mahama follows the World Peace Index (WPI) ranking of Ghana as one of the most peaceful economies in Africa and the entire world.
Meanwhile, concerns have been raised over the possibility of political tensions and post-election violence in Ghana especially as the elections draw near.
A warning by the Inspector general of police (IGP) hints of planned political attacks especially after results of the elections is declared. All political parties are thus being warned to exercise restraint and preach tolerance among members.
