Ghanaians snub free BRT ride

The piloting of the Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) service that offered Ghanaians free ride has been characterised by low patronage.

The transportation system which is locally known as “Ayaalolo” is expected to bring relief to Ghanaian commuters.

The free bus ride was available to passengers travelling from Amasaman through Achimota to Circle and then to Tudu- at the Central Business District, where there are dedicated routes for the buses.

According to public relations officer of the project, Roland Bruce the piloting involves 85 buses which have USB ports that will allow passengers charge their phones.

The buses also have 40 seats and space for 45 people to stand.
