Kumawood has always been holding us down for the ultimate laughter (and even tears) with it's movies.
If you don't know what Kumawood is, it is basically the local movie industry which produces movies in the Akan dialect. But in a bid to provide the best laughs and comical overviews on everyday Ghanaian lives, Kumawood directors have grown accustomed to turning every trending topic in Ghana into a movie.
By "every", we mean EVERY!
No matter what the topic is, Kumawood probably has a movie for it. No, seriously, check out all the times Kumawood was just too quick and sometimes, insensitive about their movie themes.
1. Obinim Vs Schwarzenegger
Man of God, Bishop Angel Obinim and TV show host, Afia Schwarzenegger's verbal abuse of each other, was the fight that never was. But Kumawood was quick to immortalise it into a film.
2. Angel Obinim
Still on the founder of International God's Way Church, Bishop Angel Obinim, when the Man of God said he had been "flying" with Jesus and acting as an "angel", Kumawood was quick to pick inspiration.
3. Castro's D̶e̶a̶t̶h̶ Disappearance
This particular movie was born out of sheer insensitivity to Castro's parents and Ghana as a whole. When the celebrated hit-maker went missing after a cruise on the Ada River, Kumawood wasted no time in producing "Castro Amanehunu". Amanehunu indeed.
4. Guantanamo Bay Prisoners
President Mahama made headlines when he accepted some supposed "terrorist" prisoners from the US into Ghana. The said prisoners, who were released from the Guantanamo Prison, surely didn't think they would become the subject of a Kumawood movie, but they did.
5. Ebola Outbreak
This, in general, was a good one. But a bad one at the same time from 2 Eyes Production. They obviously need more eyes.
6. Anas' Expose on Judges
This movie was produced in record time. Even for a Kumawood movie.
>Movies from trending songs<
7. Seihor - Castro & DBlack
One of the catchy hooks from Castro's Seihor ft DBlack was "Me nam na metete". Kumawood surely loved it, so Kumawood made a movie out of it.
8. Chingam - Sarkodie
Na film n'ankasa ay3 twan ts3n chingam mpo. Mtcheeew
9. Hand To Mouth - Sarkodie
10. Yellow Cece
Yhup, Kumawood made a movie out of a classic, and the movie wasn't even a classic.
11. Pooley - Guru
Not so bad a title for a Kumawood movie, if we hadn't heard Guru's song before this was released
