The Punch newspaper reported that many people who were shocked by the appearance of the cross at Lafia in the state capital seized the moment to pray for forgiveness and blessing.

The paper quoted one Hajara Hussaini as saying that she was the first to see the light in the shape of a cross while running an errand for her mother.

The mother, Matan Liman,is also said to have confirmed the event and said that her daughter was gripped with fear when she returned.

The chief Imam of the mosque was quoted as saying that the sighting of the cross near the mosque was a revelation from God which proved that “Jesus is also a prophet of God”.

The Punch also quoted Very Reverend Micheal Dogo of the Evangelical Reform Church of Christ in the area as saying that the sighting of the cross was “a sign of reconciliation in the community”.
