The death of Dr. Choggu David Abulai has been announced by the family on Monday, October 3. He was said to have passed on at the Tamale Teaching Hosptial, where he was being treated. Dr. Abdulai had been battling stage -thyroid cancer and his family had called for funds earlier in May this year, to cater for his medical expenses.
Affectionately called Dr. Choggu, he had over the years, been a great help to those in need of medical attention yet unable to pay for medical help. He engaged in other philanthropic activities as well and was a respected medical practitioner in Ghana.

He had treated people suffering from a range of diseases such as Hernia, HIV, and the mentally challenged. He had been in charge of the Shekhina clinic since 1983 and was also in charge of a private clinic in Wamale, in the Northern region.
In August 2016, President John Mahama ordered the doctor to be airlifted to the Korle-Bu teaching hospital. However, the good doctor was said to have wished for home soon enough and didn't stay long in Accra.
His family is yet to announce the details of his funeral.
