Patricia Asante, the vice presidential nominee of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) has declared that even though she could not complete her basic education, it will not prevent her from delivering her best as the vice-president of Ghana.
Mrs. Asante was named as the running mate for the GFP flagbearer Akua Donkor on Monday, October 3. The flagbearer told the press after the announcement that Mrs. Asante was her top choice because she had the fortitude to do the job of the vice president well, and was capable of handling affairs
In an interview on Accra FM this morning, Patricia Asante, a farmer, said that she was unable to complete her Junior Secondary School education, but that fact would not hinder her ability to perform as the vice president, as she had very strong contributions to make to the nation.
“Akua Donkor has given the opportunity to those of us who are not educated to also have a say in Ghanaian politics and governance. The fact that I cannot read and write doesn’t mean I cannot contribute any ideas. People are in parliament today but do not contribute to discussions on the floor because they cannot speak English and so I will deliver," she added.
