COP Kudalor directed that personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTD) focus only on traffic management duties.

He directed unit commanders of the police service not to issue permits for motor check duties.

He  also ordered highway patrol units to only check vehicles for arms, ammunition, and drugs.

The development comes as Ghana prepares to vote in two months.

A similar directive was issued by the police ahead of the 2012 elections.
