Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, the editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, has criticised Vice-President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur for suggesting that elements within the opposition are planning to rig the December elections.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM on Wednesday, Mr Baako suggested that the comment was beneath Mr Amissah-Arthur, whom he described as a calm and level-headed friend that he had a lot of respect for.
According to him, the rigging claims were baseless and someone as "very cultured and educated" as the vice-president should not have raised them.
Mr Baako said he would have understood if the comments had been made by a serial caller, ading that Mr Amissah-Arthur should not to allow himself to be "dragged into the gutter".
"...if a whole Vice President will descend low to the level of a serial caller, then it is very worrying. What I’m saying about him is so weighty that I can’t freely say it.
"I just don’t understand it. To be honest, this is a note of caution. Some of us respect him so he should stop making such comments," he said.
