The Flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Akua Donkor has declared that when she is elected into power, she would place a ban on all women attending all-night church services. According to the presidential hopeful, a woman is supposed to stay at home to attend to her husband's needs, as such, they are wrong to neglect their duties as wives and rather spend the entire night at church services.
Speaking in an interview with UTV, the presidential aspirant said that women were supposed to be submissive and attend to their husbands.
"As a woman, you are supposed to take care of the home and your husband. Women are supposed to be submissive; the man is the head of the family and that is what the Bible says. You cannot leave your duties at home and spend the whole day in church; going to all-night and so on. If you are going with your husband, that is ok but you cannot leave your husband alone…women will stop attending all-night when I come into office. Why should you spend the whole night in church when your husband is alone in the house…?” she asked.
Akua Donkor spoke on these matters along with her newly nominated running mate, Patricia Yaa Asante on UTV's Adekye Nsroma, on Friday.
