There is no doubt that the Greater Accra region is the economic enclave of Ghana. This is the region where majority of Ghana's major trade deals are negotiated and also the seat of government. But in the midst of the high rise buildings and lush streets, something just does not click about Accra.

If you have lived quite a long time in Accra you will realize that the region is noted for the largest stretch of slums. As we speak now, over 13 major slums including that of Sodom and Gomorrah are much horrific to know that indeed, the city is nowhere near a "modern" city.

Rains are meant to bring joy and happiness. But not in the case of Accra. This is a city with the worst flood cases since the 90's. Structural experts have attached the floods to the overcrowded nature of the city but fact is that these floods keep pressing home the fact of how horrific Accra is during rainy seasons.
Ghana's energy crisis is worst felt in the inner central cities of Accra. The protracted energy crisis has not just seen hundreds of jobs folding up but also relocating to other central regions as Kumasi and Takoradi.
It is no doubt that Accra is indeed the Millenium city of Ghana. But truth be told, these worrying factors dent the image of the capital city.
