EC disqualified Hassan Ayariga because of forgery

Flagbearer of the All People Congress (APC) has violently gone against the head of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei, after being disqualified ahead of the December 7 presidential election. The EC has clearly explained why it took this decision.

According to the Electoral Commission (EC), Hassan Ayariga made false declarations in his nomination forms. Addressing a cross-section of the media, Charlotte Osei further reveals how Ayariga failed to provide evidence on his hometown or residence in the constituency as per the legal requirements.

To this effect, the electoral commission is planning referring Hassan Ayariga to the Ghana Police Service and the Attorney General for investigations and prosecution on charges of perjury, making false declaration for office, deceiving a public officer and impersonation in respect of the elections.

Together with Hassan Ayariga, the EC has also disqualified the flagbearer of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP), Paa Kwesi Nduom, Akua Donkor of the GCP, Konadu Rawlings of The NDP, Mahama Ayariga of the PNC and several other independent candidates.
