First dates in Ghana are totally NOT awkward.
Okay, that’s a lie. First dates in Ghana, just like everywhere around the world, are probably the most awkward things everyone will go through.
But there are some issues that are more specific to Ghanaians on a first date. YEN presents some of the mistakes EVERY Ghanaian has committed during a first date;
1. Talking WAAAAAY too much
It is easy to hog the conversation. And like conversation are suppose to be, it not a one-way thing. Make the other person say something about themselves every now and then.
2. Very poor table manners
This habit actually comes from people who want to show off. If you’re not good with a fork & knife, just make sure your first date is at a fufu parlour. And please don’t chew loudly.
3. Bringing up serious topics like politics
Keep all your NDC/NPP banter at the door bro. And NEVER discuss business when on a romantic date.
4. Being rude to waiters/waitress or everyone else
Again another problem with most Ghanaian, especially the ones who feel the need to show off. Most people think treating the “help” badly is a sign of affluence. Wrong!!!
5. Constantly checking your phone
Stay focused and avoid distractions.
6. Inviting your friends
Why would you bring your friends to the date when you agreed to meet just the two of you? Ladies, we are asking why!!!
7. Talking about your ex
This will make it appear as if you have not moved on, and no one really wants to sit there and listen to stories about an ex.
