A few weeks ago, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) launched its manifesto in the Brong Ahafo Region and the sigtune for the whole event was dancehall artiste Shatta Wale’s hit song, Mahama Paper.
Fast forward to last Sunday when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) also launched its manifesto in Accra, the party’s flagbearer, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo was welcomed on stage with Shatta Wale’s Kakai.
Now fans of the artiste and Shatta Wale himself were shocked to find out the prominence of his music in both big events.
With the new NPP development, Shatta Wale took to twitter to express his surprise at the party’s use of his song.
To make things more interesting, Nana Addo himself replied to the tweet indicating he was a big fan of the dancehall artiste.
Shatta Wale who in the past has denied that he sold his Mahama Paper song to the NDC to use as their official campaign song maintains this position but is it time for him to start thinking of monetising his songs this election season now?
