The Black Maidens of Ghana were eliminated from the ongoing FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup after losing 1-2 to Korea DPR on Thursday, October 13.

Ghana went behind in the 33rd minute from a penalty kick converted by Pom Ui and Gifty Acheampong got the equaliser with for the Maidens in the second half of the game with nine minutes left on the clock.

But the heartbreak came when Ghana’s goalkeeper, Massey rushed off her line to defend a free kick, eventually committing a howler that gifted the 2008 champions a priceless opportunity to make the semi-final at the expense of the 2012 bronze medallists.

In the end, the Asian player, J. Un Yong became the heroine of his side tapping in an easy goal.

The team is expected back home on Monday.
