Thousands of people attended the National Democratic Congress (NDC)'s campaign launch in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
It comes as the party increased its votes target in Kumasi from 1 million to 1.5 million.
In 2012 presidential elections, the party obtained 612,616 votes, representing 28.35% percent of total valid votes cast in the region, while the NPP garnered 1.531, 152 votes, representing 70.86% of the valid votes cast in the region.
NDC heavyweights, including Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, deputy general secretary, Koku Anyidoho, deputy chief of staff Johnny Osei Kofi, national organizer, Kofi Adams, minister for works, Kwaku Agyeman-Mensah, and the Ashanti Regional minister, John Alexander Ackon.
The event was held at the Jubilee Park.
