President John Dramani Mahama was received in style by a massive crowd in the Volta Region as he began a six-day tour of the region
The chiefs and people of the Kpando Municipality turned up in their numbers to welcome the president to a region that is described as the 'world bank' of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Earlier there was a rumour of a possible demonstration against the president by some residents in the region, but according to a Joy News report, President Mahama was given an energetic welcome instead.
President Mahama inaugurated a water treatment plant in Kpando on day one of his visit. The 6,720 cubic meter per day facility is expected to improve access to potable water in the Kpando Municipality.
On his part, the president reiterated the NDC’s commitment to the Volta Region, saying the will not disappoint Voltarians.
