NPP claims are wicked and vicious lies- Mahama

President Mahama has debunked claims by the opposition that the NDC has not made any developmental progress in the Volta Region, calling such claims wicked and vicious lies. He said that such assertions made by his opposition are not based on fact and has implored the people of Volta Region to ignore these lies.

Speaking at the commissioning of the Kpando Water Supply, President Mahama said that his government has invested fully in the health, education, road and electricity supply sectors and the proof is visible for all to see. The President spoke on this as part of his six-day tour of the Volta Region ahead of the 2016 elections.

These remarks were in response to the criticisms by the New Patriotic Party that the president and his government have done little for the people of Volta Region. The Volta Regional chairman for the NPP, John Peter Amewu said that the NDC government had interfered with the developmental projects initiated by the paramount chief of the Asogli Traditional area. He added that roads that were constructed by President Mahama government were inferior.

However, in response to these criticisms, the 2016 NDC campaign coordinator Kofi Adams, said that the NPP packaging ‘lies’ so as to win the votes of the people of the Volta Region did not come as a surprise to him.

It is always been the case that the NPP has also peddled falsehood, they have lied, they have deceived the people and we have always responded since 1992," he said, adding that NPP have always lied, and promised his government will do more with a second term since residents have already seen what the NDC is doing for them.
