Elections 2016: NDC picks 3rd position on ballot, NPP 5th

The Electoral Commission ( EC) has held balloting to determine the positions of the parliamentary aspirants of the various political parties on the ballot papers for the December elections.

The results mean the Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP) will appear first on the parliamentary ballot papers followed by the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in second and third place respectively.

The United Progressive Party (UPP) will appear fourth while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will appear fifth.

The National Democratic Party (NDP) and the Independent People’s Party (IPP) will take the sixth and seventh positions respectively.

The EC said it will look at the order of filing for the presidential candidates in order to determine the position of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), which had no representative at the balloting.

The full balloting order:

1. GCPP

2. PPP

3. NDC

4. UPP

5. NPP

6. NDP

7. IPP

Balloting for presidential candidates could not be done because of pending court cases against the EC.
