It has been over a year since Charlotte Osei was appointed the Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson by President John Mahama.
Madam Osei, who was formerly chairperson of the National Commission on Civic Education (NCCE), has settled well into the job and is preparing the nation for the December elections.
As EC boss, she has encountered opposition to some actions she took on behalf of the commission.
In certain cases, this opposition manifested in the form of crude attacks on her personality.
Here are four Ghanaians who were responsible for some of the most vicious attacks on Madam Madam Osei:
1. Kennedy Agyapong
In June, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central accused the EC boss of getting her job by trading sexual favours.
Addressing NPP supporters at Asokwa, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, he alleged that some powerful people in the John Dramani Mahama government told Mrs Osei to “bring your buttocks in exchange of EC chair position”.
Mr Agyapong refused to apologise for his conduct despite several calls for him to do so. He later defended his remarks in an interview with Accra-based Adom FM.
2. Hassan Ayariga
The founder of the All People's Party (APC) attacked Charlotte Osei after the EC disqualified him from contesting the December elections. He described her as a "foolish" and "stupid" woman who was not fit to lead the commission.
3. Patrick Osei Agyemang (Country Man Songo)
The journalist with Multimedia attacked the EC using strong language, as he demanded to know the amount the commission spent on creating a new logo.
"Mrs Charlotte Osei is dumb, incompetent and not good enough for position as the EC chair but, because of politics, she has been appointed… ‘Are you crazy, are you crazy, with all due respect, are you crazy?” he said.
4. Rev. Owusu Bempah
The founder of the Glorious Word Ministry claimed Madam Osei had been attending some “underground meeting” meetings with a political party with a view to rigging the elections.
“Any attempt to declare a political party the winner when you know it is not so, the wrath of God shall strike you down like how it did to Herod in the Bible,” he said.
