Flag bearers of the Progressive People's Party (PPP), Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom and Hassan Ayariga of the All People’s Congress (APC) have been ordered by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) to explain how they funded their political campaigns.
In a leaked letter to Hassan Ayariga, EOCO is searching for answers over how Hassan Ayariga spent over $6 million dollars to procure vehicles, among others. Papa Kwesi Nduom is also expected to explain how he used 1.7 million cedis to pay for his filing fees at the Electoral Commission (EC) and that of his parliamentary candidates.
Both flagbearers have been disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) following some infractions in their nomination forms. Meanwhile, Papa Kwesi Nduom of the PPP has headed for the court to seek redress into his disqualification - a development likely to affect preparations ahead of the Deccember elections.
