The upcoming general elections has seen chiefs across the country endorsing and pledging their support for on candidate or the other.
YEN.com.gh takes a look at chiefs who have declared their support for the two main contenders for the presidential elections - John Dramani Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo.
Ghana’s constitution has clearly stated that chiefs and traditional leaders should not be involved in open politics but it appears the some chiefs don give a hoot.
Let’s start with the sitting President John Dramani Mahama and the chiefs who have endorsed him:

Kukurantumi Chief : The Chief of Kukurantumi in the Eastern region, Daasebre Boamah Darko assured President John Mahama of victory in 2016. According to him the president has done a good job.
Sunyani Chief: Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, the Chief of Sunyani also assured the president of at least 80% of the total votes in the region.
President of the Northern Regional house of chiefs: Nayire Naa Bohugu Mahami Abdulai
E/R Zongo chiefs: Muslim and Zongo chiefs in the Eastern Region publicly declared their support for President Mahama.
The rest are : Ajumako chief, Omanhene of Yeji , Akroso chief, Volta Chief, Odumase Chief and the Bassa chief.
The NPP’s presidential nominee has also been endorsed by the Tuobodom Chie. Nana Obeng Ameyaw Barimah II, in July this year, declared his support for flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Akufo-Addo.
Tumu Paramount Chief : Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton VI, in September this year endorsed the ‘1-District-1-Factory’ and the ‘1-Village-1-Dam’ policies of the 2016 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Garu Chief : Chief of Garu, Naba Asuguru Akuntam Wini.
Over 50 Ashanti chiefs endorse Nana Addo during his tour to the region and finally the Peki chief.
