The sports presenter will open his defence on Monday in a defamation suit filed against him.
Award-winning journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, popularly called “Coutryman Songo”, will on Monday, October 31, 2016 appear before an Accra High Court to show cause why he should not be made to pay a whopping GHȻ8 million in damages as sought by the plaintiff Kwasi Nyantakyi for defamation.
Mr Nyantakyi, who is both the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President and Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) Executive Council member, is seeking damages for numerous defamatory statements made by the defendant on his show “Fire for Fire” on Accra-based Asempa FM.
The GFA boss is expected to tender in evidence numerous recordings to adequately convince the trial judge to grant his relief.
Countryman Songo is an avowed critic of Kwasi Nyantakyi and his administration. He consistently hurls certain vitriolic attacks at the football governing body.
The lawsuit also covers another sports journalist Kofi Asare Brako and Multimedia Company Limited.
