Bombs found around minister's house in A/R

Tensions are high in the Ashanti region after security personnel confirm they have defused what has been seen as a 'powerful explosive' around the residence of the deputy Ashanti regional minister Andy Osei Okrah's in Kumasi.

Myjoyonline reports that the said bomb was very "close to the area where the national security data center is located at Danyame in the Ashanti regional capital of Kumasi".

So far, 15 military officers, armed police officers and national security operatives have been deployed to the area as intense investigations begin.

The Ashanti Region remains the strong hold of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the general elections - a development which has attracted bouts of violence before and after any elections.
