The Cholera outbreak is here with us once again with the Central region recording close to 125 cases just since October 21.
In an emergency press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, director of public health, Dr. Badu Sarkodie reveals that a national response team has been deployed to assist in these cases as surveillance schemes to deal with the outbreak intensifies.
Meanwhile, health experts fear of a disastrous effect should Greater Accra be hit by the outbreak. Here are clear practicable tips you and your family can use to protect yourselves against the outbreak;
1. Drink and use safe water
This means that bottled water with unbroken seals and canned/bottled carbonated beverages are safe to drink and use.To be sure water is safe to drink and use, boil it or treat it with a chlorine product or household bleach.
2. Wash your hands with soap and clean water always
This means you need to stick to the habit of washing your hands under clean rushing water before and after eating with the use of soap. The same thing should be done after using the washroom.
3. Always carry hand sanitizes around
Hand sanitizers help in eliminating germs contracted from our contact with germs and bacteria.
4. Eat hot foods at all times.
Germs find it hard to survive heat. What this means is that consuming foods that are served hot and not cold or lukewarm is the best health tip to eliminating the Cholera outbreak.
