President John Mahama has said that the National Democratic Congress plans to win 13 constituencies in the Ashanti Region in December.
Addressing a durbar at Apagya in the New Edubiase constituency on the first day of his tour of the Ashanti Region, the president said internal polls conducted by the NDC suggested that the target was within reach.
He said the development projects his administration had undertaken in the region would also help them to attract voters.
“Someone will say Ashanti region is the stronghold of the NPP, but at this stage of our politics, voters in Ashanti will vote based on performance. I believe the amount of work we’ve done will reflect in the votes in the Ashanti region,” he said.
President Mahama added that the party would seek to get one million votes in the region overall.
