The Electoral Commission has suggested that the final list of the qualified candidates to run for the presidential election will be out latest by Wednesday, November9, 2016.
“We should come out with the list of cleared candidates on November 9,” he told The Ghana Report on Viasat 1.
Following the Supreme Court’s ruling that instructed the EC to extend the nomination period to November 8 [Today] and allow the candidates to correct their mistakes in order to contest the polls.
The commission sent letters to the 13 disqualified candidates, inviting them over to come fix the challenges on their forms.
“If after giving the candidates a hearing, more discrepancies are noted, we'll point them out,” Electoral Commission’s head of Communication, Eric Dzakpasu told Bernard Avle, host of The Ghana Report, adding that “the parties have had the forms for about two weeks, the time they've been given is enough.”
The commission, he added after announcing the candidates eligible to contest the presidential elections on Wednesday, November 9, will conduct the presidential balloting the next day - Thursday 10 November.
