Ex-Black Stars coach Afranie dies in road accident

A former Black Stars coach Emmanuel Kwesi (EK) Afranie has passed on.

According to a family source, the unfortunate incident happened Wednesday when an ambulance conveying him [coach E.K Afranie] to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi was involved in an accident, leading to his death.

Afranie was recently rushed to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after he suffered a mild stroke.

Meanwhile, his body has since been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital.

Emmanuel Afranie assisted Osam Duodu to win the 1978 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for Ghana and was the head coach for the Black Stars during the 1984 AFCON in Ivory Coast.

He also handled the Black Queens when the team made it to the World Cup in 1999.
