The Pharoahs of Egypt have beaten the Black Stars of Ghana 2-0 in a crucial World Cup qualifying match in Alexandria.
Egypt took the lead in the 42nd minute after Ghana defender Harrison Afful brought down an Egyptian attacker in the penalty box. Striker Mohammed Sallah stepped forward and converted the ensuing penalty.
Ghana aggressively searched for an equalizer after the breaker but failed to find one, as Egypt defended strongly and prevented the Black Stars from creating viable chances.
Egypt then sealed the game in the 82nd minute with a second goal by Abdella El Said.
The result puts Ghana in danger of not qualifying for the World Cup, especially after drawing with Uganda in the first qualifying match.
Ghana now has one point from a possible six
Egypt, on the other hand, are in a strong position to qualify, having won two matches and earned six points.
