President John Mahama has revealed that traffic around the Kwame Nkrumah Circle cost the country $100 million before the construction of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange.
Speaking during the commissioning of the interchange in Accra on Monday, the president said it was one of the most spectacular edifices in West Africa.
"This is the longest flyover and the highest in West Africa...please note I said flyover, the longest bridge is in Lagos, Nigeria but the longest and highest flyover is in Accra, Ghana,” he said.
The interchange, which cost 74 million Euros, was funded by the government in partnership with the Brazilian government.
Brazilian company, Gueiroz Galvao Construction, undertook the construction.
Mahama said the projected created thousands of jobs and has created new opportunities for Ghanaians.
